Tottenham signs ‘next Son Heung-min’ Yang Min-Hyeok on five-year deal
Tottenham has signed South Korean winger Yang Min-Hyeok from K League 1 side Gangwon on a five-year contract. Yang has been touted as the next ‘Son Heung-min’.
The process began on June 27, when Gangwon FC President Kim Byung Ji announced negotiations with a top London-based Premier League team.
This narrowed down the possible clubs to Chelsea, Spurs, West Ham, or Arsenal.
The 18-year-old’s transfer is pending international clearance and a work permit. He will be loaned back to Gangwon until January.
Yang, a South Korea under-17 international, is the K League’s youngest-ever scorer. This season, he has scored eight goals in 25 first-team appearances.
He has played for South Korea in the Under-17 World Cup and the Under-17 Asia Cup.
Yang will be the third player under 20 to join Tottenham this summer, following Archie Gray, 18, from Leeds for £40 million, and Lucas Bergvall, 19, from Djurgarden.
