Liverpool’s Arne Slot Awaits Update on Curtis Jones
Liverpool’s Arne Slot is anxiously awaiting news on Curtis Jones, who was forced off the pitch due to a muscle issue during the pre-season friendly against Real Betis. The 23-year-old exited the game 30 minutes into a 1-0 victory at the Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh early Saturday morning.
Slot’s First Game Remarks
After his first game in charge, Slot addressed the situation on the club’s official website. “I think it’s too early to tell how serious it is. He might have been able to continue, but it was clear he wasn’t at 100 percent,” Slot said.
“In a friendly, with many more games coming up in our tour, it was best to take him off. Hopefully, he can recover quickly, but we have to wait and see. We hope he recovers swiftly so we can see him in the next few matches.”
Jones’ Substitution and Impact
Jones was replaced by 17-year-old Trey Nyoni, who played a part in Dominik Szoboszlai’s 34th-minute winning goal. Slot noted, “It’s always unfortunate if he has to leave after 25 or 30 minutes. Before that, it was evident he wasn’t completely free from discomfort.”
“It was disappointing because he had two really good weeks of training, and I was looking forward to seeing him play. Unfortunately, he had to leave. The positive side was that we brought on someone who impressed me during his 45 to 60 minutes on the field.”
Upcoming Matches
Liverpool is set to face Arsenal in Philadelphia on Thursday and Manchester United in Columbia, South Carolina, next Sunday.
